What Drives Us
The adverse effects of climate change present one of the greatest threats to our planet and humanity. We face devastating impacts resulting in rising inequalities, development challenges, the destruction of natural resources and biodiversity.
Many of us feel restless and concerned about the future.
How will we cope with increased natural disasters?
Are the resources upon which we depend for our food supply sustainable? Will there be fish in the water and crops to feed billions of people? Can we maintain our cultural values and habits? For eg, how will centuries of wine production be impacted?
How will pollution caused by economic activities impact our well-being?
Can we create simple pleasures and happiness that do not result in harmful impacts to the planet?
There is a growing need for awareness, education and knowledge to make informed decisions.
We achieve this by offering comprehensive training programs, driving innovative research, and supporting initiatives that foster adaptation and mitigation strategies. While we don't have all the answers, ongoing efforts in learning, designing, and adapting our behaviors are crucial to addressing these challenges.
WHAT WE FOCUS ON
Climate Transformation
We provide insights and analysis on how countries are transitioning to low-carbon economies in an inclusive way, while balancing mitigation and adaptation objectives. Our goal is to bring together decision-makers and stakeholders—primarily from Turkey and neighboring countries—to share experiences, knowledge, research, and lessons learned. Fostering collaboration is especially important in this region, which has been slower to progress. Such cooperation supports better decision-making, drives innovation, promotes equity and justice, and facilitates effective and sustainable transformational change.
Climate Action in the Mediterranean Basin
The Mediterranean Sea and its coasts are among the most vulnerable regions to the impacts of climate change. Warming in this region is expected to surpass the global average in the near future. We are concerned that the lack of understanding and preparedness could lead to irreversible damage. It is critical to gain a deeper understanding of climate impacts on Turkey and its neighbors in the Mediterranean. Our goal is to increase the ambition for coordinated action and enhance the resilience of local communities. Our first step will be to strengthen adaptation and resilience efforts through analysis, knowledge sharing, capacity-building, and awareness-raising.
Climate Adaptation and Resilience Buildung
Turkey faces significant risks from the impacts of climate change, yet its level of preparedness remains limited—a challenge shared by many of its neighboring countries. Our mission is to raise awareness and deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the urgent need for climate adaptation and resilience-building.
Priority areas for improvement include cross-border exchange of best practices, the development of comprehensive adaptation strategies, enhanced community resilience, and stronger coordination among governments and stakeholders at all levels.
The effects of climate change are already evident—impacting farmers, fishermen, tourism, infrastructure, marine ecosystems, and forests. Fortunately, a broad range of innovative solutions is within reach, including climate-smart agriculture, nature-based approaches, coastal adaptation strategies, and smart city initiatives.
Now is the time to shift from awareness to action. By fostering collaboration, scaling up proven solutions, and equipping communities across the region, we can strengthen resilience and ensure a sustainable response to a rapidly changing climate.
Strengthening Turkey’s Role in International Agreements
A wide array of international agreements and networks exists to address climate change. As active participants in global climate negotiations, we believe that Turkey and its neighboring countries have the potential to deepen their engagement in these processes. For this to happen, decision-makers, businesses, civil society, and local governments must be fully informed about international commitments and understand how these developments affect their priorities and operations.
We aim to support our members and stakeholders by providing critical analysis, timely reviews, and opportunities for dialogue—empowering them to play a more active and informed role in international climate platforms.
